WALKERS
BRAND PACKAGING - MILLENNIUM RANGE
Project summary:
As manufacturers and brand leaders of quality shortbread and bakery products sold into over 50 countries worldwide, Walkers Shortbread is a well known and respected brand of whom Graphic Partners are proud of their 10 year working relationship.
Projects have included ongoing evolutionary development of the Walkers brand, new product development and branding of various product lines for biscuit, shortbread and cake ranges, as well as the design of special commemorative tins and cartons for events such as the Queen's Golden Jubilee and the Millennium Celebration.
Objective:
To create brand packaging which will promote Walkers and celebrate the Millennium. The packaging should push technical boundaries and have shelf stand out.
Solution:
Walkers Shortbread Millennium Range was developed to be a range of shortbread selections in various sizes of carton and a special flagship 'collectable' tin was developed. The brief called for the design to push technical boundaries in terms of print finish and techniques, as well as shape and structure of the tin, but still retain strong Walkers tartan branding. Matt and gloss varnish techniques combined with subtle typography and illustrations celebrating famous characters and landmarks promoting Scottish achievements in the previous millennium.
Benefit:
The design was so successful that it exceeded Walkers sales expectations for the range. In addition, the domed tin won 'Gold Best of Show Award' in the annual Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association industry awards.
